THIS KNOCKOUT 1957 CHEVROLET IS THE 2024 HOT AUGUST NIGHTS GRAND CHAMPION

In the second annual competition, Charlie and Alanna Butts of Loomis, CA claimed the top prize of Grand Champion at the 2024 Hot August Nights Finale held August 11th, 2024, in Reno, NV. Built by the talented team at Roseville Rod & Custom, the 1957 Chevy Bel Air Convertible earned its place at the top.

This is not your average Tri-5 Chevy, as the shop took drastic measures to make in-your-face changes that disappear into the background, which is a sign of a well-developed design style. For example, the rear “V” on the trunk was 3-D scanned, tweaked a bit and a backup camera port was added in. After it was all mocked up in the digital realm, the new trim was 3-D printed for correct fitment, and then was CNC machined out of aluminum. These are the kind of touches that take a custom build to the next level.

Charlie and Alanna’s ’57 received their invite to compete for the HAN Grand Champion at the 2024 Townsmen Car Show in Sacramento, CA. For the next 12 months, the Bel Air will be the face of Hot August Nights, being used for marketing, shirts, posters, website, and a several other promotional projects throughout the 2025.

While the Grand Champion is the overall winner, there were class winners in each of the four categories.

Hot August Nights has long been a staple west coast event, bringing in cars from around the world. The Grand Champion series will certainly increase the awareness of HAN even more, as any US car show can become an invitational event simply by contacting HAN and registering their show. This is certainly a unique aspect of the 2-year-old competition series. We think the Grand Champion will quickly come to have similar provenance to other major series awards, but with the twist of being able to earn an invite to the big show at even relatively small shows. This gives more enthusiasts access to compete, which we absolutely love. If you would like to enter into the competition for the 2025 Grand Champion, or establish your event as a qualifying event, contact Hot August Nights through their website.
