Are fake manual transmissions coming? Audi keeps it real

Toyota has patented a manual transmission electric car that has one gear. The Audi RS e-Tron GT features a 2-speed transmission for the rear motor. Why don't electric cars have transmissions? It's a common question; and the truth is, they do have transmissions. Most drivers won't notice, because most electric cars have single-speed transmissions, meaning they never shift gears. Some electric cars, like the Audi e-Tron GT, as well as the Porsche Taycan, do actually have multiple gears. Both cars feature a 2-speed transmission for the rear drive unit, with a single speed up front. The game could change completely, however, after uncovering the latest patent applications from Toyota, which seeks to create a pseudo-manual transmission electric car. This video will focus on answering the following questions: 1) Why do Audi and Porsche use a two-speed transmission? 2) Why do most electric cars only use a single gear? 3) How would a fake manual transmission work, and why is Toyota considering it?

Carspotting: The other four-motor funny car

Tommy Ivo demonstrated the impracticality of a four-engined, four-wheel-drive drag car in 1961 with an overweight slingshot that hopelessly broke traction at low rpm and barely broke into the nine-second zone. It also proved hugely profitable and durable as exhibition entertainment, commanding top appearance money while absorbing none of the operating costs of legitimate race… The post Carspotting: The Other Four-Motor Funny Car appeared first...

Why she chose a BMW M2 DCT over a BMW M4 + Lexus GX470 overland build review

Niel upgraded from a Mini Cooper S to a BMW M2 before the M2 CS was unveiled. Her license plate seems to attract races, and though the M3 and M4 were tempting options, she couldn't resist the allure of the M2. She shares her experiences with her stock M2, providing an authentic taste of ownership straight from the dealer. Personally, I would enhance an M2 with a Stage 1 tune, smaller wheels, a valved catback exhaust, and perhaps a roof wrap. Choosing between DCT or manual transmission is quite a challenge. "Answrd" is a unique series of car reviews by real owners, not automotive journalists like Chris Harris, Doug Demuro, or The Straight Pipes. The series features diverse cars like the Gaglardi Vex, Porsche 911 GT3, McLaren 600LT, Ferrari F12/F430 and 458 Italia, Acura NSX, Corvette, FRS, and various BMWs and drift cars. Douglas Sonders has also owned and experienced many cars, with his latest purchase being a 2008 Lexus GX470. Thanks to Douglas for the photos featured in this content.

This is my very first drive in it, and it promises an unforgettable adventure. Enjoy!

2017 Nissan GTR R35.5 first drive impressions & shooting cars: How to light a car with strobes or speedlight (Ep. 14)

Thanks to Alex Stack for joining me in the GTR and sharing his thoughts. As the title states, this is simply a collection of our thoughts as we drove the 2017 GTR for the first time. This was my first experience with an R35.5 GTR, and I must say it is much more comfortable than the previous generation. The interior feels more upscale, almost Lexus-like, and the suspension is significantly smoother. However, the car is missing sound, similar to the Nismo Sentra, as it lacks an exhaust that enhances the experience with audible turbo spool or blowoff. Despite this, it makes for a fun daily driver. Transitioning to photography, this episode of shooting cars explains the process of strobing a car with either a speedlight or a strobe. I use a Flashpoint Xplor 600 with TTL to light a 2017 Honda Civic Sport Hatchback. The method is simple and takes about 10 minutes in Photoshop with approximately eight layers and layer masks. Feel free to DM me @ACarPhotographer with questions or results!
