TOYOTA KILLS BASE SUPRA

After 2024, the base, 2.0-liter four-cylinder Toyota Supra will exit the lineup.

Toyota's press materials list pricing for the rest of the sports car's lineup, but the trim was absent. In Toyota's own words, the Supra will now have just two trims: "3.0 and 3.0 Premium, both available with a manual transmission option or an automatic transmission."

For 2025, that BMW-sourced B58 turbocharged inline-six engine pumps out 382 horsepower exclusively to the rear wheels (via one of the above transmissions, of course). Toyota carries over the 2024 car's standard equipment as well, making the death of the four-cylinder the only real change EM aside from slowing sales.

Toyota has had some problems selling the "new" Supra since its inception in 2020. The addition of a manual transmission has helped things, but stiff competition from the likes of the Mustang and other sports cars have hurt the flawed sports car. How much longer the Supra as it exists now carries on remains to be seen, especially given its current sales situation.
