THE ARCHIMEDES STING IS A CYBERTRUCK READY FOR THE APOCALYPSE

The Tesla Cybertruck, with its angular design and promises of rugged capability, has always seemed a bit like a vehicle from a dystopian future. Well, it didn’t take long for someone to step up and make the most of this futuristic design. Thanks to Archimedes Defense and Up.Fit, that future might be a little closer than we thought. Enter the Archimedes Sting, a Cybertruck modified for military, government, and – if you’re feeling particularly adventurous – civilian use.

From Grocery Runs to the Apocalypse

The Sting isn’t just one “do-it-all” vehicle – it’s a whole family. Recognizing that electric vehicles might not be ideal for every battlefield scenario (or every Whole Foods parking lot skirmish), the Archimedes is offering the Sting in three different flavors, each tailored to a specific level of ‘excitement.’

Sting Baja

For those who like their off-roading with a side of sustainable energy, the Baja comes with an 800V generator that runs on jet fuel, diesel, or biodiesel. That means you can charge up your Cybertruck (or any other EV) even when you’re miles from the nearest outlet. Plus, it comes with an off-road mod package from Unplugged Performance. There’s even an optional amphibious package in the works for those rare times when the apocalypse involves a lot of water.

Sting Protector

If your daily commute involves more than just traffic jams, the Protector might be more your cup of tea. It comes with the same off-road package as the Baja, but it adds some serious armor plating. We’re talking protection against 7.62 mm assault rifle rounds. That should keep you safe from most disgruntled ex-employees and overly aggressive squirrels. You can choose whether or not to include the generator, depending on how much range anxiety you’re willing to tolerate.

Sting APC

This is where things get really serious. The APC is built for “high-threat environments,” which we assume means places where you might encounter more than just potholes and angry pigeons. It has IED and mine protection, and the armor can withstand a 14.5 mm heavy machine gun fire. You’ll need to pay extra for the generator, but if you’re facing that kind of firepower, you’ll probably have bigger things to worry about than range anxiety.

The Future of Military Vehicles

The original, untouched Cybertruck has a range of up to 350 miles and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in as little as 2.9 seconds, depending on the version. The Sting’s modifications will likely affect those numbers, but we expect it to still be a capable performer.

The Sting raises some interesting questions about the future of military vehicles. Can electric vehicles really handle the rigors of combat? Is a jet fuel generator the best solution for range anxiety? And most importantly, will we ever see a convoy of Cybertrucks rolling through a war zone? As much as we don’t like the idea of a conflict, given our current global situation, the latter is almost a given. The Archimedes Sting is a fascinating glimpse into a possible future where electric vehicles and the military collide. Whether that future is exciting or terrifying is up to you to decide.
