I found a 50-year-old car with only 1,000 original miles

We uncovered a 50-year-old car with just over 1,000 original miles on it. From factory markings to original tires, this thing is as close to a time capsule as it gets. The condition sparked a serious debate about whether it belongs in a museum or deserves a full resto-mod treatment. Finds like this almost never happen anymore.

Are fake manual transmissions coming? Audi keeps it real

Toyota has patented a manual transmission electric car that has one gear. The Audi RS e-Tron GT features a 2-speed transmission for the rear motor. Why don't electric cars have transmissions? It's a common question; and the truth is, they do have transmissions. Most drivers won't notice, because most electric cars have single-speed transmissions, meaning they never shift gears. Some electric cars, like the Audi e-Tron GT, as well as the Porsche Taycan, do actually have multiple gears. Both cars feature a 2-speed transmission for the rear drive unit, with a single speed up front. The game could change completely, however, after uncovering the latest patent applications from Toyota, which seeks to create a pseudo-manual transmission electric car. This video will focus on answering the following questions: 1) Why do Audi and Porsche use a two-speed transmission? 2) Why do most electric cars only use a single gear? 3) How would a fake manual transmission work, and why is Toyota considering it?

This electric car just beat Bugatti at top speed

For decades, extreme top speed meant massive engines and multiple turbos. That assumption just collapsed. A Chinese electric vehicle quietly went faster than Bugatti on a high-speed oval in Germany. The run didn’t just break a number—it challenged long-held beliefs about performance. The implications stretch far beyond one car.

New Ford EV truck platform targeting about $30,000 will support eyes-off driving tech by 2028

Toyota trolled everyone—now it’s actually building a mid-engine MR2

Toyota famously trolled enthusiasts at the Tokyo Auto Salon by teasing a “mid-engine, two-seater car” that turned out to be a hopped-up Daihatsu kei truck. The backlash was immediate. But now, Toyota appears to be making good on that tease—confirming that a real mid-engine sports car is officially in development. Gazoo Racing president Tomoya Takah...

Clean sticky car radio buttons DIY + selling an Audi R8 for a Miata - Paul's car story

To stay safe during quarantine, I am making videos with my 2012 MK6 GTI and 2004 Cayenne Turbo. I discovered a useful trick for cleaning the sticky radio knobs in the Cayenne, a common issue in older Ferraris due to sun exposure, although their buttons are harder to remove. If you have any car video requests, let me know! Thanks to @HooviesGarage for inspiring me to buy my first Porsche. Recently, Paul bought a 4th generation Club Edition 6-speed MX-5, known as a Mazda Miata ND, to replace his beautiful V10-powered R8 with a dual clutch. I met him when he owned the first dual clutch Audi R8 in the USA with an S-Tronic transmission. His latest purchase was a 991.1 Porsche GT3RS. This video is a remote interview with Paul discussing his past cars and why he chose the Miata over a BMW M4 convertible and Bentley Continental GTC while shopping for a replacement for the Audi R8 V10 Plus. I, Ben, currently own a 1991 BRG Limited Edition Miata and previously had a classic red 1995 Miata as my weekend car, alongside my MK6 GTI DSG and Mini Cooper S (6-speed).

Carspotting: The other four-motor funny car

Tommy Ivo demonstrated the impracticality of a four-engined, four-wheel-drive drag car in 1961 with an overweight slingshot that hopelessly broke traction at low rpm and barely broke into the nine-second zone. It also proved hugely profitable and durable as exhibition entertainment, commanding top appearance money while absorbing none of the operating costs of legitimate race… The post Carspotting: The Other Four-Motor Funny Car appeared first...

This is my very first drive in it, and it promises an unforgettable adventure. Enjoy!

McLaren 720S vs 570S quirk comparison + adding CarPlay to your VW with RCD330 radio review

The McLaren 720S and 570S share many features, yet they offer distinct experiences even when stationary. Both models boast a twin-turbo V8 engine, with the 570S featuring a 3.8-liter and the 720S a 4.0-liter engine. Despite both having upward-opening doors, the door handle placement differs, particularly with the 570S Spider convertible variant. Gear selectors vary between the models, as does the unique folding dash gauge display on the 720S, a first for its class of supercar. In another realm of upgrades, the RCD330 Radio for the MK6 GTI and Golf stands out for creature comforts, enhancing the car's experience with features like Android Auto, purchasable on platforms like Amazon. For installation, tools such as a Torx T20 screwdriver and a plastic trim removal tool come in handy. Adding Apple CarPlay or Android Auto can modernize your car by a decade with a simple DIY installation in less than 30 minutes. While the older unit's built-in navigation is missed, apps like Waze, Google Maps, and Apple Maps work excellently.
