BMW RECALLING NEARLY 90K VEHICLES DUE TO FIRE RISK

(NewsNation) — Automaker BMW is recalling nearly 90,000 of its vehicles, including one Toyota model, after discovering an issue with its engine starter.

The recall affects 87,394 vehicles that were made between 2021 and 2024. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued a notice Jan. 30. The engine starter has a defect that could cause it to overheat and later lead to a fire.

It comes after a similar issue was reported in September and led to the recall of more than 145,000 BMW vehicles.
